5 Cool Makeup Looks Everyone will Envy

August 14, 2020

Have you ever scrolled through a makeup artist’s Instagram feed just in awe of all the cool makeup looks they’ve created? There’s no denying an out-of-the-box look deserves extra attention, especially since it requires both skill and imagination! Which is to say, coming up with cool makeup ideas is easier said than done. To help get your creative juices flowing, we’re sharing how to do five cool makeup looks that won’t go unnoticed.

#1. OCEAN EYES

Want eyes that resemble the ocean? This cool eye makeup look mimics the splash of a wave along your crease and droplets of water under your eyes. Here’s what to do.

STEP #1. PRIME YOUR EYES

It’s always important to start your look with an eye primer, but this is especially the case when you’re working with a bold look.

STEP #2. CREATE YOUR WAVES

For this look, you’ll find that liquid and cream eyeshadow formulas will be your best friend since they make it easy to create precise lines. Use a cobalt blue liquid eyeshadow to color your entire lid. Then, use an angled brush to extend the eyeshadow down around your inner corner in a downward curve. Continue to draw your blue shadow above your crease and in an upward swoosh at the outer corner of your eyes. Fill in wherever needed, so you’re left with a solid blue wave.

STEP #3. ADD SOME FOAM

As a wave breaks, it creates a white foam. To mimic this, use the L’Oréal Paris Brilliant Eyes Shimmer Liquid Eye Shadow Makeup in String of Pearls along your upper lash line for a touch of shimmering white.

STEP #4. DRAW YOUR DROPLETS

Next, take a lighter blue liquid eyeshadow and create four droplets under each eye that fall onto your upper cheek. You can get creative with the shape and size!

STEP #5. APPLY MASCARA

To finish the look, layer on a few coats of the L’Oréal Paris Bambi Eye Washable Mascara, Lasting Volume.

#2. WATERMELON MAKEUP

It turns out that watermelon makeup—and watermelon lips especially—is a huge trend. Whether you choose to get fruity on your eyes or pout, these cool makeup looks are perfect for the summer season. #3. CLOUD BLUSH

Feeling dreamy? Put a twist on the nose blush trend and give cloud blush a try.

STEP #1. CREATE YOUR BASE

Using your blush shade of choice, create smudges of color across your cheeks and nose. This will serve as a colorful base for each of your clouds, so make sure each smudge stands on its own! Go for a popping shade, like the L’Oréal Paris Age Perfect Makeup Radiant Satin Blush with Camellia Oil in Marigold.

STEP #2. DRAW YOUR CLOUDS

Next, take a white eyeliner and use it to draw fluffy white clouds over each smudge. Position each cloud, so there are still bits of color from the smudges peeking out around the edges. So cute!

#4. NEON CUT CREASE

The neon lights-themed cut crease is seriously striking—and seriously easy to recreate, making it one of the best cool eyeshadow looks. Use a bright-colored eyeshadow—like hot pink or a bright green—to create a sharp line that goes along your crease. The trick to making it look as though it’s lit up? White eyeliner! Use a white liquid liner to draw a thin line down the middle of the cut crease line you just created. Your neon look will be instantly brought to life. Talk about cool makeup!

#5. FLAME UNDER-EYES

Flaming under-eyes were a no-brainer for this list of cool makeup ideas. Still, in one sense, this look is the opposite of cool makeup since it’s centered around a fiery hot flame!

STEP #1. PRIME YOUR FACE

Use a face primer to prep for the makeup you’ll be applying under your eyes. Smooth on the L’Oréal Paris Infallible Pro-Matte Lock Makeup Primer.

STEP #2. OUTLINE YOUR FLAMES

Grab a red or burgundy liquid eyeliner—try the L’Oréal Paris Matte Signature Liquid Dip Eyeliner, Waterproof in Burgundy—and draw the outline of an upside-down flame starting at the lower lash line and going as far down on your cheek as you’d like. Bonus points for creativity!

STEP #3. FILL IT IN

Now that you have your outline, you’ll want to bring your flame to life with yellow, orange, and red eyeshadow. First, reach for a bright yellow eyeshadow—ideally, one that’s highly pigmented. Apply it (within the lines of your flame, of course) starting at your lower lash line and going about one-inch down your flame. Then, use an orange eyeshadow to fill in the middle section. Finally, you’ll want to use red to color in the edges and bottom portion of your flame outline.

STEP #4. BLEND, BLEND, BLEND

Take a fluffy blending brush and carefully blend between each shade to make sure there are no harsh lines of demarcation. This look is almost too hot to handle, but we bet you can pull it off!
