If you steer clear of hairspray because you hate the sticky, crunchy texture it somehow always manages to leave behind, you’re not alone. Right up there with pilling foundation, crunchy curls, and crunchy hair in general, is another beauty woe that is a massive struggle because it ruins your style. For decades, Elnett has been the go-to hairspray because it keeps your style fresh without all the stuff you don't want.
It's an effective, well-loved choice of celebrity hairstylists and “normal people” alike, which is why it flies off the shelves every time it’s restocked. Elnett hairspray recently got a modern upgrade (don’t worry, all the things you love about it are still there) and now it's ready to add to cart with a new formula that includes only six ingredients. Read on as we share more about the renewed formula of this beloved drugstore hairspray and why it’s forever a must-have for your hairstyling routine.

What’s Different About the New Elnett Hairspray?
The updated Elnett hairspray now boasts a formula of just six ingredients. It also includes vitamin B5, which helps to strengthen hair, per the National Center for Biotechnology Information, and is free of silicones, which can sometimes weigh down hair.
The qualities that we know and love about Elnett hairspray, like no crunch, no residue or no stickiness haven’t gone anywhere. The lightweight, satin formula continues to provide an extra strong hold but also absorbs into the hair (because the spritz is so light and misty) with the stroke of a brush. It’s also humidity-resistant and helps to keep frizz on the low all day long.
For those who prefer a fragrance-free formula, L’Oréal Paris Elnett Satin Extra Strong Hold Hair Spray - Unscented is a great pick, while the L’Oréal Paris Elnett Satin Extra Strong Hold Hairspray - Color Treated Hair is revamped with a new, fresh scent of berries, sandalwood and citrus. For travel, the L'Oréal Paris Elnett Satin Extra Strong Hold Hairspray – Travel Size is just the right size and includes the fresh new scent.
5 Ways to Use the New Elnett Hairspray
Hairspray is a staple in many hairstyling routines, especially as of late because social media just can’t seem to get enough of the voluminous blowout and the messy, piecey updo. Here are five uses for Elnett hairspray in your beauty routine.
1. To Set Your Style
If you have a hard time getting your style to last, whether you’re sporting bouncy curls or loose waves, try a light coat of Elnett hairspray. After curling your hair, take the L’Oréal Paris Elnett Satin Extra Strong Hold Hair Spray - Unscented and spritz it all over your strands and let your curls rest. Right before you leave for your event or for the day, use your fingers to lightly break up the curls and you’ll have a bouncy, long-lasting style that doesn’t feel stiff or sticky. Remember, if you want all traces of the hairspray to absorb, all you have to do is run a hairbrush through your strands.
Messy updos are all over social media and if you’re a fan just like us, then you know that the slightly messy can become hot mess very quickly. The trick to keeping your hair perfectly imperfect is hairspray. Before you even attempt your messy updo, spritz your hair with a light coat of hairspray and use your fingers to comb your strands.
After you’ve sprayed your hair, create your updo and watch how much better your hair takes to the style. The Elnett hairspray you applied will give your hair a much better hold (without crunch) and it won’t slide out of place. When you’re finished, spritz your hair with another layer of hairspray to keep your updo locked in place all day long.
2. To Smooth Flyaways
Wayward flyaways are annoying to deal with, but they don’t have to be an issue if you have hairspray on hand. Take a clean toothbrush (that you don’t use) and spritz the bristles with hairspray, then brush the toothbrush over the crown of your hair to smooth any flyaways. If you don’t have a toothbrush, you can also spritz the palm of your hand and run it over the flyaways to tame them. Don’t forget to wash your hands after.
3. To Tame Eyebrows
If you don’t have brow gel, use hairspray. Take a clean spoolie or toothbrush and lightly spritz it with hairspray and brush it through your brows. Just like the way it provides hold for your hair, it can provide hold for your brows and it’s a great makeup hack in a pinch.
4. To Enhance Your Hair Color
The L’Oréal Paris Elnett Satin Extra Strong Hold Hairspray - Color Treated Hair has the same extra strong hold and non-sticky, satin finish as the unscented formula, but it also includes a UV filter to protect color-treated hair. Reach for this hairspray when you want your trendy hair color to look extra glossy and like you just stepped out of the salon.
5. To Remove Lipstick Stains
Elnett hairspray has many uses, and while this may seem a little outrageous, spritzing your lipstick-stained shirt with hairspray can actually remove the stain. Saturate the stained area with hairspray and let it sit for 15 minutes before you wash it. You’ll be pleasantly surprised with how well it does the job and your shirt will look good as new.
