No matter where you are in your beauty journey, there is one product that should always be in your routine — lipstick. A true classic in the beauty world, lipstick has had quite a history, evolving into a non-negotiable product on your vanity or in your makeup bag. This mainstay has also evolved into many different lipstick formulas, from glossy lipstick balms to shimmery lipstick glosses to creamy satin lipsticks, and our favorite — matte, transfer-proof liquid lipstick.
The newest liquid lipstick product to enter the category is the affordable L’Oréal Paris Infallible Matte Resistance Liquid Lipstick, a highly pigmented, luxe-feeling pick that can easily compete with pricier counterparts. This liquid lip is already supermodel-approved as it’s a current favorite of our newest L’Oréal Paris Global Ambassador, Kendall Jenner. Read on to learn more about the Infallible Matte Resistance Liquid Lipstick formula.
Liquid lipsticks like the Infallible Matte Resistance Liquid Lipstick offer long-wear coverage without the need for re-application. This particular product has a powdery formula that settles on lips for hours of wear. The matte lippie leaves a lightweight finish that is transfer-proof and smudge-proof for up to 16 hours, and it’s moisturizing too — thanks to hyaluronic acid in the formula.
While liquid lipsticks are (usually) matte and long-lasting, lipsticks can be found in various glossy, matte, shiny and creamy finishes that are all soft to the touch. Lipsticks are also notorious for leaving pigment behind — on coffee cups or even the cheeks of your significant other. Liquid lipsticks, like Le Matte Resistance, are transfer-proof and smudge-free, so once applied, they stay put.
If you’re curious about which is better, liquid lipstick or satin and glossy lipstick, that ultimately comes down to preference. If you’re looking for something that you can put on without worry of it flaking away or smearing everywhere, go for a liquid lip formula. If you like the lightweight look of a creamy lippie then opt for a classic lipstick. Both will complete whatever look you’re trying to create, leaving lips colorful.
Grab your liquid lipstick and follow the steps below for the best results.
Step 1. Before you apply makeup, always start with a clean base by completing your regular skin care routine. Your lips themselves don’t need much prep but if you like, you can use a lip scrub to gently exfoliate your pout for a smoother base for any lipstick application.
Step 2. Choose from the 12 bold colors ranging from cool-toned nudes to deep berry purples that’ll pop on any skin tone. Take a page out of Jenner's book and wear one of her favorites — Le Rouge Paris, a powerful blue-based red or Fairytale Ending, a light pink beige.
If you prefer neutral shades that’ll work for any season, opt for Shopping Spree (a pinky nude), Major Crush (a muted coral nude), Snooze Your Alarm (a coral nude), Lazy Sunday (a deep chocolate brown), Tropical Vacay (a light coral pink), or Breakfast In Bed (a light-medium mauve).
For the moments you want your lip color to make a statement, choose one of the vibrant plums or reds like Wine Not (a vivid berry), French Kiss (a vivid pink-red), Road Tripping (a violet berry) or Pay Day (a deep burgundy).
Step 3. Now you’re ready to apply your liquid lip. You can skip using a lip liner since this liquid lipstick has a rounded applicator with a narrow point that allows you to precisely outline lips with the side of the doe-foot wand. We know that everyone has a specific way that they like to apply lipstick but we recommend starting at the center of your upper lip and lightly gliding across outer edges in a thin layer.
Using the same method, apply the liquid lipstick to the entire bottom making sure to stay in the lines. This formula dries matte for a powdery finish so you don’t have to worry about crusty lips from too much product.
Step 4. Throw your liquid lipstick in your work bag or night-out purse —- not because you’ll need to reapply, but because you’ll want to show off the product when everyone starts asking what you’re wearing.
We’re serious when we say liquid lipstick formulas are budge-proof, which can make removal a little tricky. Simple soap and water won’t do the job, you’ll want to use an actual makeup remover like the L’Oréal Paris Ideal Clean All Skin Types Makeup Removing Towelettes, which will gently lift the pigment without drying out the sensitive skin of the lips.
If you want to go the natural route, use coconut oil. Take a pea-sized amount of pure coconut oil and apply it directly to the lips. Rub your lips together like you would if you were wearing lip balm and watch as the matte formula starts to break up and mix with the oil. It should only take a few seconds and then you can wipe away the residue with a tissue. For extra measure, eliminate any lingering pigment with a makeup wipe or micellar water, and follow up with a hydrating lip balm to re-nourish your lips.
