These Cherry Blossom Makeup Looks are Perfect for Spring

As we quickly approach summer, there's a lot to look forward to — warmer weather, more sunny days and new beach adventures. But even before those pleasures begin, we get to enjoy  Sakura season, which happens towards the tail-end of spring. 

Sakura, or cherry blossoms, are the national flower of Japan (there’s a big festival in Tokyo to ring in the season), but they bloom all over the world around mid-April and May. The pink flower is often said to be a symbol of optimism and the transience of life. But, the cherry blossom is also used in many forms of art, such as film, music, and even beauty, making it the perfect inspiration for makeup. 

If you’ve looked at your feed lately, you might’ve seen pink makeup looks to welcome the new season. Check out some of our favorite looks that channel the cheerful spirit of cherry blossom  season.

1. A Smudged Pink Lip

If you want to try something inspired by the cherry blossom but prefer to keep it a little natural, adding a pink lip to your usual look is the perfect choice. Overdraw your lipstick slightly and buff it out to draw more emphasis to your lips. 

2. Dewy Eyeshadow

For something more overstated, you can add glossy lips and highlighter to an intense eyeshadow to take your look to the next level. 

Start off with a palette that includes multiple metallic pink shades for more depth, such as the L’Oréal Paris Pocket Palette Eye Shadow in Avenue Des Roses, and then add a silver toned highlighter to the high points of the cheeks, inner corners, and under the brow bone. Finish it off with a sheer pink-toned gloss, like the L’Oréal Paris Glow Paradise Lip Balm-in-Gloss.

3. Flushed Monochromatic

A monochromatic look can seem intimidating at first, but it’s super easy to accomplish with very few products. The key to this is opting for multi-use products in one shade, which can be used to replace different blushes, eyeshadows or lipsticks. 

The L’Oréal Paris Glow Paradise Lip and Cheek Tint is a great example of this, and the shade Pink Serenity fits the cherry blossom colorway. Add a sparkly highlighter to the inner corners of your eyes and a volumizing mascara, like the L’Oréal Paris Bambi Oversized Eye Mascara, to add more drama.

4. Sparkly Cut Crease

Glitter makes everything more fun, and a cut crease is no exception. Add a dab of eyelash glue to each piece of glitter and create a line upwards, placing carefully so that the glitter stays inside of the cut crease to create this sparkly and fun look.

5. Subtle Pink Tones

If you’re not the biggest fan of pink but still want to incorporate it into your makeup, try adding subdued pink shades instead of making it the focus.

For example, you can create a dramatic eyeliner look, and then add a subdued pink eyeshadow, like one from the L’Oréal Paris Paradise Enchanted Eyeshadow Palette, just to the lids. Add your favorite peach-toned blush and lip tint to complete the look.
