Calendula Skin Benefits:
Anti-Aging
Antioxidant
Moisturizing
Calendula is a plant derived from the marigold flower family
Calendula officinalis. This plant is rich in compounds such as terpenoids, carotenoids, flavonoids, and volatile oils. In skincare, this herbal plant can provide antioxidant, anti-aging and moisturizing properties.
With its constituents serving as antioxidants, use of calendula extract for skin works to neutralize free radicals present throughout the environment.
1 Consequently, levels of oxidative stress are reduced, which in turn can promote good skin quality.
In addition, calendula skin care benefits may also provide enhanced hydration. As skin ages, hydration begins to decline. Topical application of calendula oil for skin can be used to combat these physiological changes and improve water retention. Given its moisturizing capabilities, calendula skincare products most commonly include lotions and creams, which can contribute towards the lasting appearance of younger, more beautiful-looking skin.
