Sheri Mathis is the President of Mammogram Poster Girls, an organization that raises money and awareness for women of limited means to benefit from early screening for breast cancer.
Thanks to timely mammograms, Sheri is a two-time breast cancer survivor, along with her sisters who also beat the disease due to early detection. Sheri founded Mammogram Poster Girls in 2018 in Dallas, Texas, fueled by the spirit of “if I can survive, you can, too.” Sheri cheekily calls herself (and her sisters) models – aka poster girls – for regular breast cancer screening.
Sheri’s mission is to offset the cost of mammograms for women who often wouldn’t qualify – whether because of inadequate insurance, distance from traditional health providers, cultural or language barriers, or unawareness of the power of prevention.
Since its inception, Mammogram Poster Girls has quickly expanded to include resources beyond just mammograms including meals and follow-up testing. To date, Mammogram Poster Girls has provided 2,000 screening and diagnostic mammograms, free of charge. In 2022, the City of Dallas recognized Sheri as one of its outstanding philanthropists.
