The Best Wedding Makeup Idea for Brown Eyes

March 11, 2019

Venue? Check. Florist? Check. Seating arrangements? Check. But what about your makeup? Before you start to panic wondering how on earth you should apply your face makeup and eye makeup for your big day, take a deep breath and remember that we have your back! To help take some of the stress off your shoulders, we scoured the web to find out which eyeshadow colors will work best to accentuate your beautiful brown eyes on your big day. While purple and green work beautifully for pretty much any other day in your life, most brides prefer neutral wedding makeup. Of course, that doesn’t mean you can use just any old eyeshadow and eyeliner to create the ultimate beauty look for your big day. To help ensure that your wedding makeup is tailored to your eye color, follow our tutorial on the best wedding makeup for brown eyes. Just think of it as our wedding gift to you.

THE BEST WEDDING MAKEUP FOR BROWN EYES

Keep reading for the complete how-to on a look that will play up your brown eyes in the perfect way for your wedding day.

What you’ll need:

Eye makeup primer

Fluffy eyeshadow brush

Tapered blending crease brush

Flat eyeshadow brush

L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Monos Eyeshadow in Mademoiselle Pink

L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Monos Eyeshadow in Matte It Up

L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Monos Eyeshadow in Paris Beach

L’Oréal Paris Infallible Pro-Last Waterproof Pencil Eyeliner in Black

L’Oréal Paris Voluminous X Fiber Waterproof Mascara

Get the look by following these simple steps:

Step 1: Prime your lids

Start your wedding eye makeup off right by applying an eye makeup primer. Primer can help ensure that you have a smooth base for the rest of your makeup application and also make your eye makeup look last through the entire day and night. If you don’t have any primer on hand, dab on a little bit of foundation or concealer instead.

Step 2: Start with your second lightest color

Dip your fluffy eyeshadow brush into your soft pink shadow, then sweep it into your crease. Make sure you don’t apply too much color at once in order to avoid eye shadow that looks caked on. Once all of the shadow is off of your brush, use the bare brush to blend out your crease color, fading it up toward your brow bone.

Step 3: Layer your darkest color into your crease

Next, reach for your neutral brown shadow. Apply it, making sure to blend all the way down to the outer edge of your eye socket before swooping it up into your crease to help make your eyes pop. From there, take the color about two-thirds of the way in toward the inner corners of your eyes, leaving space for your lightest shadow (which we’ll get to!). Once there’s no more eyeshadow on the brush, move in small circular motions to blend it up into your crease and just beyond.

Step 4: Highlight the center of your lids

It isn’t just your cheeks that look best with a highlight, your eyes need a bit of highlighting, too. Use your lightest shadow to really make your eyes pop, dusting it onto the center of your lids and the inner corners of your eyes for a brightening effect. Blend, blend, blend once you’re done in order to eliminate any lines of demarcation between your three eyeshadow shades.

Step 5: Apply eyeliner and mascara

Smudge eyeliner along your upper lash line. Don’t worry about creating a super-straight line. Instead, take a tightlining approach to create definition without looking like you’re actually wearing eyeliner. Top it off with a few swipes of mascara (make sure to get waterproof, ladies—the last thing you want is for your happy tears to streak black down your face!).

Step 6: Everything else

Once you’ve completed your eye makeup, it’s time to move on to your face. That’s right—when it actually comes to your big day and creating this brown eye-approved makeup look, be sure to start with your eye makeup and end with your face makeup. This way, if there’s any fallout from your eyeshadow, you won’t have to smudge your concealer, foundation, face powder, or highlighter trying to dust it away.
