Covered my grays perfectly!

I have pretty dark hair, black with some dark brown. Since my hair is so dark my gray stands out right away and is just very noticeable. I get my hair (roots mainly) touched up every six weeks. I saw this product and was super excited to try it out! I tried the black color and instantly my grays were hidden!! I also tried the brown color and it blended beautifully! This has become a lifesaver as I don't always have time to get my hair colored and sometimes I want to give it a break. It sprays wonderfully, one just has to set it far enough away and spray evenly so there is no build up and mess. I haven't had any issues when spraying at all. It's kind of miraculous how it blends perfectly and disappears off the face if it makes light contact. Yes, it will smudge onto your fingers if you scratch, but it's not a severe issue. Once I brush it through it helps "settle" it. I LOVE THIS PRODUCT! Thank you LOREAL for creating it! I will have to come back to add pictures!

I am so upset right now. I have been using this product for a month and LOVING it. However, today some of the product leaked on my shirt as I was spraying. I immediately tried to apply stain remover, and have been applying more and more throughout the day. But this stain will not budge!!! One of my favorite tops is now ruined :( I really wish there was some sort of warning about this on the label. Because I never even considered this. Wear clothing that you don't mind being ruined while using this product!!!! Be smarter than I was.

Bring back old formula!

I am distraught I have used this product for years. This past month I purchased and it seems like a completely different formula that doesn’t cover my gray at ALL. I tried 3 different bottles to see if it was a fluke or not. Please bring back the old version with better coverage this is awful and so sticky too!

Disappointed

I've used root touch up for years, however, most recently, it's terrible. Dries out my hair, makes it feel sticky, comes off all over clothing, pillows, etc…you can NOT touch your hair even hours or days after spraying it because it will be all over your hands. It feels sticky and cake-like on your hair. Absolutely disappointing root product on the market and the cost has gone up exponentially.

All of a sudden, it's Junk!

Ineffective false claims for no smudging

This item claims that once dry it doesn't smudge or get on anything which is false even one to two days after I've sprayed it on my hair if I touch my hair or something touches my hair it gets on everything horrible product

Great product with horrible nozzle design

smudges, feels chalky & difficult to apply

I purchased to cover my roots on Christmas Eve, I covered my next and shoulders with a towel as instructed. It was difficult to get an even smooth spreading spray. It left dark spots.I used baby oil on cotton ball to remove over spray. My hair feels chalky and the color spray rubs off on hands even 4 days later so I have to keep washing my hands if I touch my hair so it doesn’t transfer to other things. This does not meet the LOREAL website claim that it dries and doesn’t rub off or smear. This is very messy and expensive since I won’t be able to use the rest of the product.

Love how quick and easy to use this product is. It covers completely and without any extra steps. Blends well. Texture is good unless you put too much or build it and then has texture thick feeling. It does come off on pillow (staining it) but not too bad.

Not happy with the Root Spray Can

I have been using this product for months and it works great. Unfortunately, I had a very bad experience with this last can I purchased. As I was spraying, it exploded all over my hand!! It took me hours to clean my sink and it's still all over my hands. Not happy because this product is not inexpensive!!

Quick and easy coverage!

This was a pretty solid 4 stars for me. It's good for a quick touch up and doesn't go on too crunchy. It does come out of the can in more of a blast than a spray. It does cover quite well and my grays were nicely blended in. The scent is a little cloying for me but it faded. This washed out easily as well. Overall, good for fast touch ups!

Best quick fix for covering gray hair!

I am not the greatest when it comes to upkeep on my hair, So using Magic Root cover up is my new quick fix ! The packaging was simple to open and the Application method was very user friendly , there was no chemical scent which was a bonus . I plan on trying out a lighter shade now that I know that the color I chose was a bit too dark , but it sure covered my gray hairs . And with my hair pulled back it blended well .

Great product, but...

Love L'oreal magic root cover up permanent hair color. I have used it many time. Only complaint is I wish it was made for multiple uses, at least 2. I only ever use half and have to throw half away, which is a big waste if product. No my hair isnt short its long to mid back. I only cover top roots which is why it only takes half the bottle. I know there used to be a product that had a 2 sided bottle with the different products on each side that you could mix as you need it.

Didn't cover well, difficult to apply color didn't match smelled normal packaging was normal had to go to a salon to get my hair color fixed, don't recommend for me for future use but may work for others

It definitely helps to cover the grey. Doesn’t match my hair color exactly, but it’s easy to use. Doesn’t have a horrible smell either. I’m letting my hair go grey or I would use it more.

I like this product and it matches perfectly with my dark hair, great coverage but not impressed with the application process, it feels cold and nervous that color will go on my face. I also don’t like that the color gets on your finger if I accidentally touch my hair where I applied the spray.

A must have …

One of the greatest things about the Magic Root cover up is the versatility!. You never know when you need it, unexpectedly you have a diner invitation or something else… this can rescue!. Super practical to used, great coverage for grays, easy to go and use because is fast dried !.

Good for a quick root touch-up

I was gifted the L'Oreal Magic Root coverup to try. I have to say the coverage was very intense. It covered the roots very well. The problem is that the texture was very dry and to be honest it looked like shoe polish on my hair. The shade range is good for those who need to find a perfect match . I did not notice a scent so it will not cause a problem for people with asthma or allergies. It was not for me. I prefer a natural product that blends with my hair coloring.

It is very compact and easy to use. The shade was what I wanted for a different color for the day. It covered my grays perfectly. The scent was very light versus actual hair dye. The texture for the spray was not noticeable.

The shade was very close to my current hair color so did a decent job blending. The application itself was easy and worked well. I don't have a ton of gray so im not sure I'd use this frequently but it would work great if that's what your looking for.

is this waterproof and sweat proof? i know it comes out in shower but what i really want to know is if i get caught in rain am i okay and if i sweat during a run, am i okay?

If sweat saturates the areas that the color is applied to, and you wipe that area, yes, the color will come off. Again, it is not waterproof! We can't say how it will react under a downpour of rain or excessive sweating. It has not been tested under these circumstances!

It was difficult to get an even smooth spreading spray. It left dark spots.I used baby oil on cotton ball to remove over spray. My hair feels chalky and the color spray rubs off on hands even 4 days later so I have to keep washing my hands if I touch my hair so it doesn’t transfer to other things. This does not meet the LOREAL website claim that it dries and doesn’t rub off or smear. This is very messy and expensive since I won’t be able to use the rest of the product.

Only complaint is I wish it was made for multiple uses, at least 2. I only ever use half and have to throw half away, which is a big waste if product. No my hair isnt short its long to mid back. I only cover top roots which is why it only takes half the bottle. I know there used to be a product that had a 2 sided bottle with the different products on each side that you could mix as you need it.

This product effectively covers grays and stays on your hair until you wash it out. Pro tip, spray, and let it dry before adding anything else. Otherwise, it won't stay. I didn't detect any noticeable scent to it, which is great, and it didn't bleed on my clothes, but again, that is once it's completely dry, which I like to give at least 2 minutes. Whether your hair is straight or curly, I will always keep this on hand. It's a no-brainer pickup.

Once sprayed on you have to let it sit for a minute. Afterwards it felt like a dry shampoo, so I rubbed it into my scalp and used it as such. When you touch it, it does transfer onto your hands, so you don't want to touch your hair too much. But it washes off easily. Scent isn't overwhelming, and price is about average what other brands cost. Packaging is just the right size and color match is easy to find. Definitely my go to product for root touch ups, have already purchased several cans to have on hand! Ingredients aren't too crazy, applies easier and faster than powder root touch up products.

The medium brown was a close shade match to my natural hair color and also blended well with my colored hair. I have a habit of touching my hair during the day so one downside is the product rubbing off on my hands.

It says no smudging and it definitely smudges. I sweat a lot in the summer time it’s becomes a hassle to constantly color / dye my hair.. thought this would have been a great change but definitely not…. It was messy… don’t recommend if you sweat from your scalp…

While the one positive is that it is very easy to use , quick spray and you're done, the results left a lot to be desired. The formula made my hair feel stiff and fuzzy, which made it hard to style afterward. I also noticed that overspray got on my forehead and if I touched my hair or ran a brush through it it would rub off. It just didn’t blend in naturally or feel good in my hair. This might work better for others with different hair types or styling needs, but for me, the texture and messiness outweighed the convenience.
