Meymuna Hussein-Cattan is the CEO and Founder of The Tiyya Foundation, a nonprofit organization formed to impact the lives of refugees, immigrants, and marginalized communities. Her innovative strategies, strategic planning, and organizational management have fueled the foundation's growth and expanded its reach, resulting in the successful resettlement of thousands of families and the empowerment of immigrants through education and vocational programs.
Born in a refugee camp herself, Meymuna’s personal journey inspires her unwavering commitment to humanitarian causes. Meymuna’s nonprofit work has earned her recognition as one of the "Top 10 CNN Heroes" in 2022 and the "Outstanding Nonprofit Founder" at National Philanthropy Day in 2021.
In 2018, Meymuna ventured into culinary entrepreneurship, founding Flavors from Afar Restaurant. Her unique concept, combining diverse cuisines with social responsibility, earned the Michelin Bib Gourmand and consecutive "Top 101 Restaurant" awards in Los Angeles.
