Dr. Tonya Stafford is the Founder and Executive Director of “It’s Going To Be OK,” a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting victims of human trafficking by providing direct trauma informed services to victims and their children and educating people about the horrors of human trafficking with the goal of one day ending it.
As a survivor of human trafficking herself, Dr. Stafford's passion for the cause began when she was sold at 13 years old by her mother in exchange for drugs. Through “It’s Going To Be OK,” Dr. Stafford and her team dedicate their lives to protecting women, children, and all vulnerable adults from human trafficking and its effects.
Since the organization’s inception in 2014, “It’s Going To Be OK,” has expanded its reach and impact, offering comprehensive support to trafficking victims on a domestic and international scale. Day-to-day, Dr. Stafford oversees the organization’s operations in training law enforcement, FBI, Homeland Security, corporate America, airline and hotel staff and more on trafficking awareness and prevention.
Most notably, Dr. Stafford has testified before the Texas State Senate, helping to pass House Bill 2290, which recognizes January as Human Trafficking Prevention Month. In 2023, Dr. Stafford was honored with the prestigious Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award.
